I waited so long for the D5. I thought the D4 was not a great leap forward after the D3 so thought I'd hold fire for the D5. I went to look at it last week and would have bought it there and then but I was so disappointed. Big Cry

LR has sacrificed what made the Discovery what it was: A vehicle that crossed market sectors that fulfilled so many roles, to develop a car that falls into the Chelsea tractor and yummy mummy bracket and that looks like its come out of South Korea. This is not where I sit.

So for all you budding Victoria Bekhams nee Posh Spice, I wish you well. I'm sure it will sell well in that sector but its not for me. Sad

Well, I sold My D3 18 Months ago because the difference between the D3 & D4 werent enough to persuade me otherwise. I tried a Disco Sport briefly but realised very quickly that it wasnt a DISCOVERY.

I've toyed with the Idea of purchasing a new RRS because they are one of a handful of cars that i actually look at twice, I'm not really a RRS driver so i'm trying to imagine that the new Disco will be as much as a transformation as the leap from the last RRS to the latest one.

Sorry, I'm out

We've had 8 consecutive new Discos dating back to 1991, we got an invite to the private pre-launch viewing of the D5, what a disappointment. I asked the factory rep what on earth LR were thinking when they put pen to paper for the D5, "it's the brand look" was his reply. I pointed out that if you lined up the current LR model range in size order, they'd fit inside each other like Russian dolls. If you pass a D3/4 on the road, you don't need to look at the badge to know what it is, the D5 has become another amorphous jelly mould SUV, it could be a Volvo/mazda/lexus (insert any wannabe 4x4 name) So I'm sorry to say, that after a 26+ year association (I had a S3 swb prior to the first Discovery), there is no longer a Landrover parked in our drive. We actually drove from the D5 preview & ordered a Yeti on the way home.

Hi Martin

Can you please close the D5 section of the D4 forum?

Now the car is available and people are owners It would be nice to have all D5 information in one place the D5 site.

It seems a shame to seperate them. At the end of the day iit s a Discovery. Moving between different sites is a pain and it would be nice to see how people are getting on with them and letting them share their experiences.

It would be sad to think that seperation is based around the diverse views on the D5 as a replacement for the D3/4.

I would also like to see and hear how other people are getting on with their new cars, but as soon as anyone posts anything about the D5, there seems to be an avalanche of negative posts which IMHO, detracts from the original topic and as a result, we aren't getting the opportunity to see and hear how the new owners are getting on which is a real shame Crying or Very sad

Or a compromise. The reverential discussion is done on the D5 site, the irreverent discussion is undertaken here. No change needed then. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
