Timing Belt

Our D4 2012 model year (owned from new in Sept 2011) was in to local indie for service today (on schedule it was listed as 208K service). Mileage is currently 128K. They advised on the invoice that the timing belt should be replaced soon "if not already done".

Having checked the service record I see that it was changed by the dealer in Sept 2018 (7 years old) at 76K miles (scheduled as 112K service).

Simple arithmentic tells me that if the same replacement interval applies then the belt will be due to be replaced at next September's service (scheduled as 224K miles) when it will be 14 years old.

Have i got that right and what sort of cost will i be looking at ?

TIA

Yes I believe every 7 years is correct. I would have thought around the £800+ mark depending on what else is done in the service.
I have an Adblue model which was done at 7 years and cost a bit more than that.

Yep you are correct. Please find below my quote (£500) for last January. Things to consider;

Choose a garage you trust. Doesn't have to be a Land Rover expert.

Do you also want the fuel pump belt done at the same time (I didn't). It lives at the engine rear top. I was told it's a engine out job by the girl on reception but it's not. LRTime have a clip showing how it's done. It's just fiddly but if it goes it fails safe.

Do you want the oil pump done whilst you are in there?

Prices vary - pay the extra for a good garage.

Thanks all. I'll get a couple of quotes but at least I have a bit of time to get sorted (I won't leave it till the 7 years is up next Sept!)

Crikey.

First of all - good spot.

Second - do I need to flag this up with them? Does it make a difference worth following up?

Not vital that its on time but that it is close I believe. I asked to see my old belt. They dived in the bin and it looked used but not worn or damaged.
