Disco 4 - steering wheel control buttons - strange behavior
Hello Community!
(thanks for beeing here..!)
Maybe someone can help:
Contacts and wires (behind airbag) already cleaned. Contact spray applied.
Left side: Audio works, Cruise Control doesn’t work.
Right side: Car Menu, „ok“ and Phone control doesn’t work, heated steering wheel works.
Both sides: horn works.
I bought the car like this.
When the battery was very low last week (alternator died) ALL buttons suddenly worked fine.
New alternator, new battery - same buttons as before without function.
No faults stored.
Could this be a can bus thing? Is there a another unit for these buttons except the connectors behind the airbag?
I‘ve spent some time looking into this, Land Rover workshops have no clue.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I’m no expert but CanBus could be an issue. I fitted a heated steering wheel to my car last year and there are two kinds of switch pack and ECU, one only works with pre 2014 cars and one post 2014. Land Rover had no clue, and even denied there was more than one kind!
When I tried using switches from a 2014 car in my 2013 car I got all sorts of weird things like the paddle shifts and some steering wheel buttons not working. Fitting the correct ones (which look identical) cured it.
How you would tell if somebody has used the wrong switch somewhere I’m afraid I have no idea, but it might be your problem. Good luck!

Wonder if it may be ur clock spring , did use a multimeter on the small looms behind the steering wheel as before found bad pins etc
Plus 1 ref switch packs to ensure there the correct year , if u take them off u should find a part number so if u take some pics we can at least ensure there the correct year for u
Also Ideal if u have diagnostics as can then ensure the settings are correct plus if there are any fault codes
If it is a faulty clock spring Plse ensure it’s a heated one
As you’ve not seen everything work properly may have to check all the part numbers first and then go from there , plenty of us here to help walk through it
