Changing the Trailer Wiring
My recently purchased D4 has the OEM 12N/12S sockets. My trailer is 13 pin. Can I simply remove those sockets & rewire the cables into a 13 pin socket ? Or is there some nuance I'm not aware of ? The proper LR 13 pin kit is >£100 whereas I have a spare 13 pin socket sat here already potentially making the job £0.
Next thing is to put an Anderson connector in the spare hole to power the trailer winch. That'll tie into a 2nd battery / split charge job.

I do have one of those somewhere - not that I can find it right now of course ! No rush. I don't need the trailer urgently. I'm just getting everything sorted ready for when I do.

I don’t think you can just rewire on the LR side but you could rewire the trailer side. Or use an adapter as said above. Mind you, after writing this, I’m wondering that maybe you could just pick the 7 wires you need on the LR side and wire into a new socket. If it was me though, I’d be changing the trailer. I converted to 13pin this year on the LR as my white socket melted.

I don't see why not, I plan to do the same unless someone with greater knowledge offers a reason why not to do it.Previous LR's

A 2x7 to 13 "Y" adapter works and all that does is concatinate the two sockets into one.
What you are thinking of is to do the same thing but avoid the Y lead so yes it will work. The only complication might be if there is a switch in the socket to disable the fog lightsA visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
