Inlet manifold replacement - Cornwall
Was hoping that the recent 'pop' and Reduced Performance might be a nice simple intercooler hose, but no, it's the right hand inlet manifold that has split, with an accompanying P2279-64 and P006A-85 trouble code.
So, consulting the collective wisdom ... Can anyone recommend (positive experiences) anyone to replace an inlet manifold in Cornwall - preferably not too far from St Agnes?
Also, any ideas of current cost?
Should I get the LHS done at the same time?
Best version (part number) of manifold to use?
Any chance LR would 'goodwill' repair it, or are those days long gone?
Many thanks,Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Definitely get them both done, the labour is the biggest part of the bill. Go for genuine ones, there are copies but most garages won't warranty the labour if they fail. A decent garage who knows what they are doing will also replace some breather pipes round the back of the engine which apparently go very brittle. I also had the aux belt changed and if it needs it you should have the cam belt changed too. I've seen all sorts of different prices for this work, I paid just short of £3000 and I've no doubt you can probably get it cheaper but I used a Land Rover specialist.

I believe there's a garage in Perranporth that are good with Land Rovers, I've not used them and can't remember the name but I've seen them recommended on here or FB. I seem to think they're somewhere near the Coop, but I wouldn't bet on it. There's also Cluve from CDS, a site sponsor and top guy helped me out many times, he's moved from sunny Oldham back down to Cornwall. I'm not sure if he'd do the manifolds as he's mobile, but he'd definitely be a good one to get in your speed dials for other stuff.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

It is worth considering aluminium manifolds too. I have been running them for over 12 months and can't fault them. Worth the upgrade if you intend on keeping the disco long term in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies guys,
High Lanes in Perran was going to be my first choice. I've not used them yet - despite previously living in Perran but a friend uses them all the time to maintain his 'fleet'.
I wasn't aware that Clive (CDS) was now in Cornwall - that's great news!
Tyty - it's your excellent thread that very nearly convinced me to have a crack at it myself, but...
I rang Vertu LR in Scorrier - they supplied it to me and have carried out all servicing, and they have given me an uncharacteristically reasonable quote, after a perfectly reasonable conversation with the service manager, who came across as totally familiar with the problem and not trying to fob me off at all. I was very pleasantly surprised! so, in the interests of maintaining the full main dealer SH (just in case the crank goes ), that's where the work will be done.
The car will go to them in November, and once all is done, I'll share more details of the experience and an indication of the costLong succession of Disco's since 2001...

Hi Dave, I use LRD Southwest at St Enoder, near Hamburger Hill. Clive is indeed there and the staff are superb are reasonably priced. I've been very impressed with them as they have nursed my D3 through the last 5 years.
A few friends with FFRR and the new Defender have had issues sorted quickly and professionally.
I can't rate them highly enough *cheque is in the post
