Thermotop VEVO in 2012 LR4
Sorry at first to propably ask a known solution but there so much topics it is hard to filter them for me.
I have a 2012 LR4 Discovery HSE Luxury. It has a Thermotop VEVO and timers enabled in the menu. I can set them single shot or on a schedule but i cannot single shot shot select Heating now.
AFAIK i don't have the remote start functionality in this car (not sure where to look for the receiver either) but am looking for a way to remote start the heater. From a remote or a Phone doesn't really matter to me but am looking for some help. Is there anyone who can shed a light. The dealer says it is too old to think about it. My local WebastoDealer says go the LR-dealer.
I think it should be possible but how..
I would be very happy if someone would take the time to help me out on this one.
greetings from the Netherlands,
Benno van Ham

Welcome.
I think you need an altox wbus-5 or similar module. There should be threads on these here. Use search.
Not too familiar with diesels, unfortunately.

Did some extra checking. I seem to have the remote option installed in the back,
Have the Telestart T91R module fitted in the car itself. Can see and feel the module. Now it is just up to finding a fob and pairing it if i have read all instructions carefully.
Can all T91R remote fobs be paired or is this a very specific model and type only. the Webasto FOBs are about € 200,- and the VW only € 100,- new. Just asking ? That would be great. I have always loved this functionality in my cars. Had it in my first Discovery's and in the Volvo's we owned.

Even the Webasto dealer couldn't be clear on the subject so i decided to bite the bullet and buy me a T91R remote, not the specific LR one but a general type. If it reaches me i will keep you posted on the pairing and working of it.
The webasto Telestart unit installed is a t91R so i am going for the same type Remote hopefully it works otherwise money spent for nothing.
greetings,
Benno

You need to Identify the fuse that feeds the receiver and remove it.
Replace the fuse and wait 2 seconds, press the off button of the transmitter for 1 second. It should then be programmed to the receiver. The receiver goes out of programming mode after 6 seconds of restoration of power.
The caveat is that I found this out myself because I only have one remote and was looking to get a spare so you can confirm that it works. Its supposed to have good range but I can't see how as the aerial is inside a metal box (the car) A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Just to confirm. I use my remote to switch the FBH on when I'm leaving home early. It fires up and does what it is supposed to do, sometimes much to the concern of my neighbours who live adjacent to the car.
I am 350+ metres away but with a clear line of sight. The remote never fails BUT do have a spare battery available as the remote will just drop dead when the battery expires.

Wel i have tried a lot of types in the meantime. The VW type with on/off will not work. the one with the heater logo and off neither. An new universal T91 holiday i got on loan from Webasto did not work either.
In the end i resorted in buying one from a LaRo Indi repairshop here in the NL. Not the cheapest solution but it works, it is the one with a LR logo on it.
