Activation/desactivation of park distance control |
|
Hi there !
On my new D3 I have got both the A bar as well as the front runner spare wheel holder installed. The dealer told he had desactivated both the front and the back park distance control because it would constantly beep. I believe he is right for one of the sensor just located under the locking mechanism of the wheel holder but all other should work fine...
How is it possible to reactivate the system while disconnecting one of the captors ? Is it done through the car computer or did he simply take the fuse away ?
Thanks
Benoit A second D3 ! This time with all whistles and bells (Auto, 7seats, Diff Lock, RAI, all kinds of protections, winch, Extended range tank, iPod adapter....)
First time twice the same car ! and first time third car of the same brand !
I'm loving it !

I don't know the exact answer, but I know the answer is here as I have recently been reading a lot of the forum!
I believe if you look for the winch threads, people fitting the LR winch kit had to remove the two front park sensors, and they taped them over several times and left them inside the bumper to stop them false sounding.
I am sure someone who knows more than me will be along soon anyway!

On older model year D3's there was a handy little button on the dash to turn them off... they took it away
So no when reversing off road (I only have rear PDC) the damn things drive you nuts
Why oh Why did they take away the on/off button ?

front parking sensors DO work with an A bar as the sensors are moved onto it!
I've got them on mine
not sure about the rear ones though although I beleive one or two of the four can just be blacked out/taped over and the remaining will still function OK

Very, especially when you have a bike rack fitted... I guess I need to get a plug in for the towing electric's to terminate something that will turn off the bloody bats in the boot.

MY05 had one.... MY08 has not.
Unless it should be there and its not been fitted of course.
Anyone with a MY08 XS have a PDC on/off button on the dash above the stereo head unit ?

When did they delete the switch then ?
Mine was a MY 7 - 56 plate and has the switch. The Loaner and LR Experience cars were newer and had the switch too - turned off at easnor as the undergrowth was triggering them all the time "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Yes, but why take the button off on a car that has PDC on it? Ben
