Brake light bulb faliure

my 2007 d3 hse seems to eat brake light bulbs. the guy at the business next door has a 2007 d3 commercial that is the same, and a customer has just pulled into our yard in a 2006 d3 hse with the drivers side brake light out, he said he is on the 2nd bulb in six months. are there any other members with the same problem or is it just a coincidence?

BIG problem. A lot of us have switched over to LED rear lamps and they seem to last ages. The bulbs from Land Rover seem to last a lot longer than your typical Halfords replacements too from anecdotal evidence on here.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

18 months old and both brake lights have failed...the nearside one yesterday. What are the best LEDs to go for?

12 months in 3 off side and 2 nearside.

If on an auto, you probably sit with footbrake on at traffic lights, whcih does wear the bulb - put the EPB on and then get problems with that! Laughing

Or if you don't want problems with your EPB ... stick it in Park Wink

How long do you want them to last? bear in mind that brake light filaments were originally designed early last century for occasional use - the advent of the auto box means that brake light usage is far greater than they were designed for, and TBH, is a couple of £ every six months or so such a BIG problem? Confused

1 blown in 30 months on the last D3 (replaced with the spare that's conveniently kept just below it Wink ), none gone so far in the 9 months I've had this one, definitely doesn't rate as a BIG problem Al Rolling Eyes

Oh, and I use my EPB all the time and it's never had an issue Whistle

Like many others on here, I replaced my brake, stop, side and numberplate lights with LEDS from UltraLEDS - there's a number of threads on this site so have a troll around for them to get advice on part numbers etc. On your first 2 orders from the firm you can use the discount code DISCOVER10 to get 10% discount.

The firm's website can be found here ultraleds
