I'm considering a DP chip for the D3 to help with all the extra weight I'm carrying around. Does anyone already have one? Any comments? Can you install it yourself? Disco 3, Gold TDV6 HSE, rear e diff, kaymar rear bar, ARB bullbar with front parking sensors, Warn winch, 110L auxiliary tank, dual battery, GME UHF, Lightforce spotties, Cooper ST's, LR snorkel, Expedition roof rack.

I posted a similar question awhile back with no response except one user who changed it over for a turbo chip, but I got no reply when I asked what was wrong with it. I have a contact who maybe able to get them at trade price, as you don't live far from me are you interested in pricing one. Retail price is around $1350. Live it like it's your last!

Hi,
I can't answer your question directly, but when I visited Graeme Cooper's (a LR guru in Sydney), a few weeks ago, he explained that overseas designed plug-in chips are not ideal as diesel in Oz is to a different spec. to that in Europe etc.
He now uses a Haltech chip as it is programmable. He programs each chip individually (for each car) on the dyno in order to optimise the car's performance according to the owners individual needs.
Best Wishes,
Peter

I understood the DP Chip was european sourced but that Berrima Diesel modify it somehow for aust conditons. That's what the website implies. Have a nice day!

One of the SA guys has a torque tune chip. I think SA would have the same diesel as us.
A re-map would be a better option IMHO. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The best diesel we get here is 50pm sulphur content, but the manufacturers don't readily publish the cetane rating.
Sasol Turbodiesel claim Cetane 47-50, Sasol GTL diesel cetane claimed 70
BP Ultimate: "BP Ultimate Diesel has the highest average cetane number in South Africa" - not very specific, but it has to be more than 50 then
Engen (mobil) no info

Yes, Bruce Davis is probably "the other" LR guru in Sydney.
I'm sure that Bruce would work only with programmable chips.

Bruce simply uses on 'off the shelf' tune from Autologic in the UK.
Nothing 'guru' about that

I think meant that he is one of the LR specialist gurus generally not a tuning Guru as such.
He does have a good reputation and has done some good work on LR motors. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Most boxes are fitted downstream of the ECU just before the fuel injection sytem. They take an instruction from the ECU to open an injector for a fixed time and simply multiply it by some factor (may also be mapped to other info) resulting in overfuelling. What they cant do is advance the instruction timing or control turbo boost pressure to provide a more efficient burn. Overfuelling alone without more efficient burning will reduce the oil lifetime.
Get a proper remap for your D3. You know it deserves it. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
