Replacement of LED rear trailer lights to normal 12V |
|
Just collected my new enclosed single vehicle trailer, read alot regards the LED's on tin tents etc, can someone just clarify this point:
If I replace the led light clusters (ie brake lights/indicators/reversing lights) with a NON LED type, will this resolve the issue of no illuminated trailer indicator on the dashboard when indicating?
And secondly, if this is the only action to take, does this mean that our d3 will regonise the vehicle is towing something and utilise the trailer brakes and the vehicle brakes? (we dont have reversing sensors).
At the moment, when powered up, the led indicators pulsate, with no light to show the trailer indicating. All led brake lights work all side markers, front markers etc
Thanks guys and girls in advance

Hi,
I have just played around with this myself.
If you change over to globes again all will work as normal.
You could buy one of the expensive LED defeater systems, they add impedance to make the trailer presence detectable.
Or you could leave the LEDS on for their long service life and add some Bulb based running lights and indicator repeaters to create a detectable presence and all will function correctly.

sorry for the late reply and thanks for your comments, hope to get things sorted in the next couple of weeks, but flat out at moment doing around 2500 miles a week, up and down the UK delivering new cars, so using open bed trailer at moment with normal lights.
