Worrying comment re oil uptake pipe.
I received an email from my brother re a conversation he had with Stepney Auto's in Adelaide.
The manager, knowing I had a Disco, said to tell me: that Disco 3 TDV6 has vulnerability with a bracket that supports the oil uptake pipe (from near sump). It has 2 bolts that can/will in time rattle loose & result in air sucking up instead of oil. The dipstick still suggests you have plenty of oil (but not getting up into engine). The oil light will flicker at 10psi (minimum safe operating pressure) & if you keep driving the engine will seize totally! He has had 2 come in! New (or 2nd hand) engines required. They use locktite on those bolts in replacement engines.
Comments on this anybody????MY2010 D4 HSE 3.0, e-diff, 19inch MTR's; LLAMS Height adjustor, LR f & r light guards, LR side steps, LR bright finish side door mouldings; LR/Mantec G4 front bash plate, LR G4 Winch kit, Warn 9500lb Winch; GOE compressor guard, Uniden UHF, LR bright finish roof rails, LR G4 driving light kit, LR G4 ladder, 4 x extra rear compartment 12V sockets, Traxide dual battery system and Optima Yellowtop battery, ORS drawer system / fridge slide, LED rear compartment lighting.

I heard this a few years back, but was in relation to the TD5...
AFAIK the Td5 issue was bolts vibrating off an oil pump sprocket inside the sump, on a batch of engines where they were not torqued up enough during manufacture (just like the tailgate struts a few years later on D3 ). Maybe he's getting a bit confused?Previously:

.......the Td5 issue was bolts vibrating off an oil pump sprocket inside the sump,
This happened to my 2003 TD5.....the oil pressure warning light blinked on a tickover speeds but oil pressure was ok at road speeds
The whole pump assembly was swapped out under warrantyBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
