Entertainment for the masses!

Even though its more of a Nav/Ent topic, I thought I'd keep it local due to product availability etc. SWMBO (aka financial controller) has decided a rooftop screen/dvd player for the 4 munchkins IS quite a good idea for long road trips 8) . I have an SE model with the standard head unit. My two questions are: 1) is the standard LR system compatable with my head unit and 2) is there anyone out there that has experience with any aftermarket units??!? Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated Very Happy Cheers

I've just bought a TDV6 SE and am going to do the same type of install. After all my searching I'm going for the roof mount option, and the absolute best by a long shot is an Alpine unit, PKG-RSE2. It's a 10" screen, but 1.15million pixels, so the resolution is way better than the others out there. Street price is around $1200 with 2 IR headphones (approx $100 each for more), and because of the weird internal roof line in the Disco, install is worth another $700 with a custom panel it sits on that is colour coded. I was sent some pics by an installer in Brisbane. PM me and I can forward them on.

I think the key is finding a good installer that has done a Disco 3 and can show you their handiwork.

Cheers for that JND, PM will be on the way Thumbs Up . I should probably also mention that I have the alpine roof with rear aircon, so space might be a little limited Embarassed

Spain 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

Hi gents,

Gethro....I'm almost 100% sure that the LR DVD system will work perfectly with the base radio (CD-400). The fitting instructions do not mention or refer to any particular model of radio.

I'm also currently looking into a roof-mount DVD (or two) at the moment, so I think it'd be great if you could share any pics or info you have on the site rather than privately (if you're able to)...Thumbs Up

Cheers,
Paul

I use a lap top. Fold down the centre seat to use as a table, put the DVD in, get hold od a split audio out lead and give 'em head sets, sit back and enjoy the serenity...

It's been a while since this topic was alive so i thought I'd bump it to the top. I'm keen to hear from anyone in Brisbane who knows of a good installer who's D3 friendly.

Cheers

Gethro - the best car hifi/ICE installer in Sydney is FHRX Studios at Caringbah. They do high end installs, but also happy to do other vehicles and jobs, as the customer requires. They stock Rosen as well as many other brands.

FYI, people have their Porshes, Ferraris, Lambos, etc trucked interstate to that shop - as their quality of work is so good. 8) Take a look at their website: http://www.fhrxstudios.com/

I have bought some stuff there (amps & speakers), but happy and competent enough to do the work myself. So I am not affiliated at all. Just a happy customer.

Thumbs Up

Cheers,
Rob
