2005 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Java BlackLR3
In car phone

Exactly what is the story with a phone system in the LR3. I have a 4.4 HSE which has the button on the dash showing a phone handset but that's it. There is seemingly nothing else on the car apart from this button. My car is a 2005 model but i have read on lots of sites that the car needs to be retro fitted with a phone system the original car doesn't have anything installed.

Anyone shed any light - my car is as near as damn it a US spec car

Thks

You have two options, one of which is not available to you, for in car phones.

The first is the factory installed PTI; the second is the accessory fit kit.

If you don't go down the Land Rover road, you can always acquire a third-party kit.

The button on the IHU is for operating the phone when the factory PTI kit is specified at build.

PTI wasn't available when our D3 was built (2004) but having recently got a RRS with PTI in I am mightily impressed with it. Is there any reasonably priced and easy fit aftermarket accessory I can buy for the D3 which achieves the same functionality ? Meaning handsfree use of mobile.

The Land Rover dealer "kit" PTI, which is almost the same, except it's Bluetooth only, no cradle (no charging, no antenna, no phone book/call log access), no radio keypad support & more expensive (due to labor). Same kit works on non-PTI RRS. If you need more comments, use search.
