Do Logic 7 and HK ICE use identical speakers? |
|
I borrowed a car equipped with Logic 7 from my dealer last weekend. The system wasn't very impressive, and i got the best sound quality with Logic 7 switched off.
Would the "normal" HK ICE be similar in peformance to the Premium ICE
with Logic 7 switched off?
Do the two systems use identical speakers (except for the extra ones
in the Logic 7 equipped car), or are they using different types? For example, are the speakers mounted in the front doors different?
If the difference is the additional speakers and a different amp, I will most likely go for the HK ICE, and upgrade amps and speakers once MOST adapters become available.
Regards,

I can't say for certain, but I would suspect the speakers are the same. The subwoofer is likely to be the only one that is different as it is active in the Logic 7 system. The L7 system presumably also has bigger power amps etc.
As I have said in threads before; I'm very impressed with the performance of my 'standard' (SE) system - well balanced and plenty of available grunt.

The Premium ICE system has a little more power to drive the additional speakers and has a Logic7 DSP. The subwoofer is also different; active vs. passive. I have no idea if the common speakers between the systems are the same. And the rear headphone jacks (and remote controls) only exist on Premium ICE (in most or all markets).
I personally don't think there is much of a sound advantage over the Hi ICE system, especially since I am no fan of Logic7 DSP processing. Both are far from high-end, but they are acceptable for stock/factory.

There are three levels of speaker configuration for the 'base', 'Hi-ice' and 'Premium' in addition to the various head units and amplifiers
as a guide, the front door speaker(s) have a range of seven different part numbers

The radio still has a 'tune' button, right?
