my dealer recommends Tracker. About 200 squid I think and also most ins companies give you discount of you have it fitted.
Also try another insurance company - I use NFU and they are very good and used to covering 4 x 4 drivers.

Neil, I use NFU and I have an associate who produces specialist alarms and locators. If you PM me I can give you details.

Simon/Gareth.
Did you LR dealer arrange the installation of your Tracker or did you have to go direct?
I asked mine and this was the reply I got:
Unfortunately Land Rover have not approved Tracker fitting to the Discovery, due to the fact that having Tracker fitted increases battery drain. We can offer alternatives such as NavTrak which is approved, but if you still want Tracker fitted before you take delivery of the car, you would have to organise it directly with Tracker. The reason for this is because we are a Land Rover main dealer and therefore can only fit Land Rover approved accessories.
Have you left the D3 parked up for any length of time and if so, did you have any ‘battery’ related issues on your return?

Ooooerr you have me worried now. I have not heard about this battery drain problem with Tracker, and it was fitted by Tracker engineers at the dealers premises before I took delivery of the car.
As you may or may not be aware, I have suffered a lot of electrical hiccups, and the battery was replaced at the last fix because of low volts. The Tracker was not mentioned though.
The car has never been left for more than a day, and all the electrical errors have been whilst driving, so I don't think its the cause, but you got me wondering?

I have a collegue who manufactures a similar system which I have fitted to my D3 and other vehicles. I use a small battery and have secreted the whole lot in the body with a lead to charge up the small battery when driving, my idea my collegues design. The system can be found by calling Malcolm Rearden MD of Autowatch on 01732 886777. He can arrange for a local engineer to install. To get through to Malcolm please mention my company Ashtec (Int) Ltd (he is a very busy man so keep trying). NFU do not require a tracker or location device however. His system can do a lot more (and it costs less), but he can explain that if you call him.
