Hello all,
This is my first post and I would be grateful if someone could help answer my question.
I would like to get a car kit that allows my iphone to stream music and receive calls through the cars stereo.
Having spoken to a number of stores I have been advised that solutions such as the IO Play will not work as my cars stereo has an amplifier.
Ideally I am looking for a product that has the functionality of the IO Play.
Could someone please advise if there is a product that will work with the stereo?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Have you got the 3G iPhone, if so the LR iPod kit and bluetooth kit should work, I believe!
BTW, welcome to the site! Ben

Thanks for the prompt responce. Yes it is the 3G phone that I have. The car didn't come fitted with bluetooth and I had pretty much discounted getting original landrover kit fitted as I assumed it would be the least cost effective solution. Does anyone know the cost of getting this installed? the IO Play option I had seen was under £150 fitted which seemed perfect - appart from the obvious downfall of it not working!!
If anyone else has other opinions I would really like to hear.
Once again thanks for your help.

Speak to Nick at Yeovil Land Rover (The Large One), he should give you a quote on the price!
I think they come to somewhere around £300, I may be wrong though! Ben

Hi
Not sure about the 'phone bit, but there is talk that the Alpine KCE-425 unit, when finally available, will integrate with the D3 audio system and the nav screen to give full touch screen funtionality for ipod / iphone / itouch.
Have a look at some of the threads under the Alpine unit reference - there is a lot of discussion on the forum about this side of things. D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys
Grabber AT3s, Smoked Sweeping Side Repeaters
D4 Steering Wheel with BBS boards
IID BT Tool - happy to help with fault codes

KCE-425 seems not to be out STILL yet, and also Alpine don't know how to connect it to the D3, even though they know its meant to be done that way with "an adapter box", I suspect until its release we won't know for sure.
Reminds me of Jhonny Cash getting it "one piece at a time", whats the lyric "with a little bit of help, from an A-Dap-Ter Kit..."
Dylan - have you thought about getting a standard BT car kit and using the line in in the rear console for the music input, with the iPod as the control?
Alternately, have you got Sat Nav? For £300 you could get a Garmin SatNav with inbuilt car kit and MP3 player with radio transmitter... and a free satnav...
