as the above any one got any advice on the best pressures ,as the garage did not have any idea

I'd say, as a rule of thumb, run it at standard LR pressures. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

When I fitted BFGs to my last Discovery, I contacted Michelin to find out the correct pressure and was told a figure a great deal higher than the standard LR pressures. Michelin said this was because the BFGs are a totally different tyre to standard road tyres, if I were you I would drop them an e-mail and they reply very quickly.

I use 40 rear 38 front not saying thats the recomended but it works for me

sent a email to michelin and they replied
we do not have any pressure recommendation for this size fitted to this vehicle. We suggest that you contact Land Rover for further assistance.
Once again thank you for your interest in Michelin.

Thats strange, the ones I had for my last Discovery were 235/70/16. Would have thought they would have been able to advise you on your size. Cant remember exactly what the difference was, but I think it was about 6psi higher than normal, the explanation being that it was something to do with the sidewall construction. If you went onto the LRO International forum, the Discovery section, someone will be able to tell you the pressures for the 16" tyre then you can work out how much higher than normal they have to be. Sorry cant be of any more help.

You will see in the handbook that LR recommend the same pressure [for each specific purpose] for all tyre sizes fitted to the D3.
From 17's through to 19's, with all the varying makes/widths & profiles.
That's why i reckon you should stick around their recommended pressures.
I've got 295/45/20 - non standard LR wheels/tyres, been running these for around 3 years.
I run them at around 1lb to 2 lb above LR recommendations.
Cos that's what I've found best.
So, use their pressures as a guide and tweak from there. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

In the lack of further help from Michelin, I suggest that you consider the 4psi rule. Perhaps start with the LR recommended pressure with cold tyres. Take the D3 for a good highway/freeway run to get the tyres/air hot, then recheck the pressures when hot.
If the pressures are 4psi higher than cold - pressure is spot on.
If the pressures are greater than 4psi higher than cold - pressure is low.
If the pressures are less than 4psi higher than cold - pressure is high.
