pull cable seems to be operating but the latch(es) are stuck and I need to open the bonnet for servicing - any tips/tricks to open it or is it a grill smashing exercise?

You should be able to get the grill off without ripping it to bits.
Theres two catches on the side of the grill, which will give you a little room for maneouvre.
Then get a screwdriver and locate the four lugs at the top of the grill under the bonnet. Use your screwdriver to prise these down and the grill will slide out.
Then you can get to work on the bonnet release cable.

thanks for that, I shall do it tomorrow and no doubt insert levers into the top tabs to keep unlatched.
Be in touch - currently no new cables available on LR stocks! pete57
