Any advice on fitting headrest DVD and games based systems? |
|
I currently have a portable 6" twin screen DVD player for the car/caravan etc.. Problem is I have to also carry a large invertor, and have cables strewn all across the back of the car, especially once I ad the games consoles.. I am considering having a twin screen DVD player with inputs for games consoles etc. fitted to the back of the front headrests. Most of the discussions seem to be around single screen systems in the roof.. Can anyone offer reasons for or against the headrest option versus single screen roof mounted? Also, what would I be looking at paying for these systems??
Cheers

If you PM 10forcash, he can provide you with a twin screen headrest quote & if you search on here, you'll find he's work is second to none!
Pro's for twin screen depends on how many kids you have. If two kids, then perfect!
Large single screen does seem to get in the way of the rear view & is the older style of LandRover option. The new models have twin headrest.
I have three kids, so they all have their own portable DVD players which can be linked if required. Stops them arguing abouit what they're going to watch!
I have some velcro that goes across the seats front seat handles & provides the centre screen, the others are velcro'd around the headrests.
Was a cheap solution which is easily removed.
But I do prefer the installed twin headrest version. Bodsys Brake Bible

The Nextbase unit we have is great, it fits with a compact but very strong mount to the back of the front seat. Has a large screen (think it is 10") and has analogue/digital TV in with magnetic aerial of outside the car. Also has remote, mains adapter and a great picture.
Best bit is you can transfer the unit from one car to another within minutes and also use it at home or holiday when you need to.

Maybe a stupid question, but are the headrest fitted units easy to disguise? I imagine it would be a thiefs dream car if he could see it had twin screen fitted too.

Err not really, I have tinted windows, which seems to cover most things that are dark. Problem with the fitted headrests (for the thief!) is that they wouldn't easily be able to get them out anyway even if they did break in.
If I had the spare cash, I'd have the fitted headrest ones. Bodsys Brake Bible

In my sister in laws Toyota Verso, they have headrest covers that came with the car to hide and protect the displays.
