I am thinking of putting a set of MTR's on my D3 but have a couple of questions?
a) As most of my mileage is 'A' roads and motorways will they have the right on-road ability?
b) Are they very noisy?
c) Should I get a 2nd set of rims?
Suggestions please. You can never have too many toys...

If most of your mileage is on-road it doesn't make sense to run MTR's IMO.Get a second set of rims for the occasional off-road excursion.
Alternatively you could run AT tyres, they are available in 17 and 18 inch rim size for the D3 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

So Yes they are ok on Roads but Yes they are noisy and Yes I should run two sets of Rims.
Still not sure that helps me make my mind up. You can never have too many toys...

Why not they will cover well over 36k. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Do i run MTS or buy a 2nd set of rims and put MTR's on them ? You can never have too many toys...

Its all down to cost. If you can afford a second set of rims get them, and have a set of wheels that you can use off road that may get scratched. You can keep your road wheels and tyres for best. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Wouldn't necessarily agree with that. I run MTR's all the time, no problems with road holding at all. They are noisier, but it's a nice noise  I tend to go through road tyres rather quickly - MTR's last for ages Disco 5 HSE Lux

Fair point, I was just thinking road use = road tyres, no issues with noise and better mpg. 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
