Wife went out to the disco today,, and the hand brake would not release, ( manual) I have tried the thing in the book saying pull on the cable under the cover behind the release switch but even tugging as hard as I can it will not release. I have a yellow light on the dash for fault on the brake , tried turning the thing on off loking doors closing windows all to no joy. 6 months old and I am wishing for my td5 back . any suggestions how to get mobile

Put it into low range; use either first or reverse (depending upon where the nearest wall is) and (making sure that the red light is off on the dash) give it a gentle jolt - doing the same forward and backward if you can. Don't worry if it stalls, just start it up and do it again. If that doesn't work, then there isn't much more I can suggest.

to release it manually you should insert something like your wheel brace through manual release cable and pull hard with both hands -it will release

Thanks Steveho,, managed to do that, though I thought it would not work at first , it needs some force to release,,, still go no handbrake, the joy of living on the islands
