What 19" tyres?

One for the knowledgeable......

I'm currently running on Pirelli Zero Scorpions (the one's LR fit as std I believe) - 255 / 55 R 19 (111V) on the side wall.

Having just thrashed one whilst having much fun at LRE Snowdonia (a rock slice through the side), I'm thinking of changing things.

I do a lot of road miles and want to do a lot more green lane / off road miles. I can't afford to run two sets of wheels / tyres and so am thinking of a compromise. I've seen advertised Pirelli Scorpion ATR (all terrain) tyres and wondered if anyone had experience of these or similar?

I guess I'm looking for tyres with a slightly more aggressive tread, a more durable side wall and reasonable road performance (I'm not a boy racer - I do a lot of motorway miles... Sad ) but I've heard the wrong tyre choice can screw up the terrain response system ( Question )

I'm also not sure on things such as load rating, costs etc.

Any help most gratefully received !!!!!!
 I see no ships........

Replacement tyres for 19" HSE wheels

I often tow a horse trailer on grass and the standard fit tyres are far from ideal ! They are nearing replacement so I'm also looking for a tyre with more off road ability. The only two I can find to fit the 19" HSE wheels are the Pirelli Scorpion ATR and Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. Are there any other options ? I'm thinking the Pirelli is my best bet since I also do high speed motor way driving ? Thanks for any advice.

Don't think they're for sale still though

There are very, very good Twisted Evil - I bought the set off Ken 8)

Great on road, nice and quiet, fantastic cornering and in my opinion based on the one or two off-road trips I have taken them on, they are nearly as good as the AT2, if not as good. Too early to see how well they wear, but so far - I'm very pleased with them.

Also, I just got some sidewall damage on the motorway and as with the MTRs they can be sent away for repair Smile
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I've just put a set of MTR's on mine, awesome off-road, having just done a training weekend in Radnor Forest, the car breezed up hills where D1's and Defners with muds and lockers struggled, all I can say is these tyres are Bow down Exclamation

And they are not half as noisy as I was expecting them to be Thumbs Up

You may say that Steve, but I couldn't possibly comment Wink

Seriously though, I'm impressed with them, I was led to believe the increase in noise would be around a factor of 4, I'd be hard pushed to say it's a factor of 1.5.

MTR's. Great offroad, good on-road. They are noisier, but its a nice noise Smile

And they outlast road tyre wear by 4:1 (for me, anyway)

I have seen some MT/R's advertised with the correct 19"size but S rated, is this a typo, or are they rated differently
