Scorpion ATR looks very expensive - the AT2s on my last disco were less than half the price of these things.
How good is the Scorpion zero at some off road - as that lookis like the best solution.
Also Kwik fit seem to be selling a tyre called Pirelli Ice & Snow - is this the same tyre as the Pirelli ATR?
Andy - thanks for the prices, the Kumho looks very cheap - what is wrong with it?

Nothing wrong with Kumho, good tyres for the money.
Pirelli ice and snow is different to ATR.
Scorpion is O.K. off road, no where near MT/R though but kinder on the road.

Ken (or anybody else who might know). Did you notice any significant loss of mpg with the new Pirelli ATR's?
I'm guessing in comparison to the Scorpions it would only be slight.
When I have my Goodyear MTR's fitted, I reckon on a drop of 2-3 mpg over the Scorpions.
I'm thinking that the Pirelli ATR's would be ideal for my needs. I'd just fit the MTR's for more serious off-road play.

Mine came with Pirelli Scorpion Zero (M+S) and I replaced them twice with the same. I'm very pleased with the on-road performance while they're new: great grip and low noise.
Problem is, they don't last much in that condition. They start squealing on turns, flaking and demanding traction control on wet corners. I wish they lasted longer Blue

I don't think you would notice hardly any difference in MPG with the ATR, you would need to run them for a very long time to quantify that IMO.
Maybe Ken you are doing this ? or maybe like me could not be bothered.

I run them on my FFRR & I didnot buy a FFRR to worry about MPG, I'm a big fan of ATR's I have a choice of tyres to use I 'd dumped the 20's in favour of the ATR's

My wife runs Pirelli Scorpions on her D3. The last set are pretty well worn now at only 10,000 miles. Seems a very expensive tyre to run if it only lasts this long.
Mind you, Kwik-Fit charge £142 a tyre for Pirelli's (19" 255/55) if you buy 4 whereas the Goodyear Wranglers are £161. Goodyears would be cheaper in the longrun though as I reckon they last substantially longer than the Pirellis.Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Well, time for me to change tyres again, and after reading about the Pirelli Scorpion ATR, and seeing them, I'm about to go and get some. I imagine they'll make more road noise than the Scorpion Zero, and I hope they're not much worse in the rain.
I was told the flaking on my Zeroes could be caused by the rubber hardening (from age?) or by running often on rough tarmac, take a look:
