Exeter & Taunton

Surprised that there are few reviews of the LR dealers down here in the SW given the number of folk who own them. Perhaps they are too busy farming Smile

Anyhow has anyone had any experience of the Exeter & Taunton dealerships. Based on a casual first visit to look at a Freelander2 Exeter seemed very big and flash but not overly interested in helping out whilst Taunton were the opposite. TIA

Ours came from Taunton3 years ago, having asked them, Yeovil & Exeter to quote. None of them had the "you don't leave without doing a deal" attitude I recall of London BMW dealerships, though.

I would have expected them do be a bit sharper in the current climate: a number of members here collected new cars from Yeovil this summer when Kieron was wielding the pencil, so worth pushing it as far as you can.

I gave up with Exeter. Offhand and rude receptionist (too long in the job without a shake up). I went to Taunton and had brilliant sales and brilliant after sales including "no quibble" TSB actioning. I live in a farming community and my view is echoed by many of my acquaintances. If you don't dress up to do the deal (even though you have cash on the hip) at Exeter they look down their noses at you.

Taunton gets my vote (you could walk in there covered in the bovine brown stuff and you're equally a potential customer as a bloke in a three piece) but curiously, Taunton, Exeter and Yeovil are all part of the same group.

Work that out if you can

I'm 10 miles from Roger Young in Saltash, but take mine to Yeovil where the service is excellent. Tried Matford a few years ago when I had a D1 300tdi, but wasn't impressed. Well worth taking it to Yeovil from where you are (assuming somewhere between Exeter and Taunton) - they are very competitive on price and the parts department know their stuff.

TSB actioning?

Excuse my ignorance but what is TSB actioning? Like the bit about the farming community and dressing up. My sentiments entirely.

I live up near Great Torrington so nowhere is near here. Yeovil 2hrs so maybe too far, Taunton 1.5 hrs and Exeter 3/4hr. Sounds like it could be worth the effort to try Taunton first.

2 hours to Yeovil would be worth the drive IMHO. You're the same distance from them as me, just the roads are a bit slower from Great Torrington.

TSB is Technical Service Bulletin. If there's recognised problem, Land Rover will issue to dealers a TSB showing how to correct it - usually in the warranty period.

I have family in Meeth nr Hatherleigh. When I was last down I had a fault with my D3 and Matford were great Thumbs Up They phoned me through the details on whats being done, and when it was ready the invoice was explained to me and the D3 was valted on pick up. I know two of the sales guys in Matford and I would reccommend them.

Yeovil Landy

Nic in parts is a character , but that could possibly be the Somerset CIDER Laughing Excellent crew , service were superb and I couldn't fault them Bow down

If it was me from Great Torrington I would go to YEOVIL, and shop in Taunton for the day.
