Picking up an '07 HSE on Saturday which is fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Tyres. I plan a reasonable amount of driving to European Ski resorts in the Winter and wondered whether these tyres are suitable for packed snow/ Ice?.
thanks for any advice Mark

Recon it will be better than the 355 with no tread left.
No only joking, Scorpion will be O.K. good all round tyre, if by chance you are on 18" then look at the General AT2's.
Andy.

Pirelli worked well on packed snow here - but then I bought a set of Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme winter tyres (http://www.vredestein.com) and the difference is definitely noticeable (probably to do with the tread pattern/compound? but AJS4x4 may be able to clarify) Definitely worth the money & they also seem to work well all year round!

An ice and snow/winter tyre will work very well, they are designed for those conditions, do a serch on Google and see what suits, sorry I have no experiance with Vredestein tyres, Pirelli ice and snow work very well judging from our customer feed back.
Andy.

Do Vredestein do a tyre to fit a D3 HSE with 19" wheels ?
I have used Vredestien M+S tyres on other cars - good grip awesome mileage BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Mark,
I'll visit the UK this weekend, during which I'll stop by Andy's place to have my D3 re-shod with Grabber AT2s. Then during the Christmas week I'll be back, by which time I will have swapped over to the winter wheels, which are on Scorpion Ice&Snow. Those tyres have seen less than one full season's use and are in very good nick. I'd prefer to have MT/Rs as my second set of tyres for off-road days and run all-year on AT2s, which is a long-winded way of saying that if you want to buy some lightly-worn Snow&Ice, I'll happily cut a deal to give you mine, and I'll buy new MT/Rs from Andy.
Send me a PM if you're interested.

I have Vredestein Wintrac 4 xtreme for my Winter tyres 255/55/19 as I do at least 5000 mies over the winter months to and from the Czech Republic, they are a brilliant tyre, quiet, harder wearing than I expected and bloody awesome in both the wet and the ice / snow.
I would recommend them.
