okay, I know this has been discussed before but I don't find all the information in one thread so please allow me ask:
The factory fitted detachable tow bar is non adjustable im terms of height?
The top of the tow ball is set at 400mm?
Then there is a multi height towbar which allows a lowest setting of what?
Is is available ex factory or a dealer fit?
Is it detachable?
Any pics?
Is there a preference among D3-owners which one is better?
I will be towing a Brian James A-Max Car trailer and best height seems to be 430mm.
Thanks very much for some input

Detachable tow bar is fitable by yourself, or factory fit or dealer fit. Simple wiring takes aboiut an hoiur if you choose not to have factory fit (wiring is available about £80)
Top of ball is indeed 400mm
Multi-height goes 350, 400, 450, 500* . Setting usually used for yoiur type of trailer is 450
(*ISTR seeing 500, but can't recall where)
Can be fitted by your dealer or yourself, wiring same as for Detachable bar.
Detachable is better if you're not towing much or want to use it & easily remove it.
Multi-height I think is better for your application as it sounds like you're towing a lot (from your other posts)

Yes

Changes with the height of the car, but basic height is400mm
Jolly Jumper wrote:Then there is a multi height towbar which allows a lowest setting of what?
350mm (to 500mm)

Both - cheaper as DIY. Can be bought on Ebay or from "The Large One" at Yeovil
Jolly Jumper wrote:Is it detachable?
Yes, but requires unbolting. Takes about 20-30 minutes

Nope, not really. Detachables can be stolen if left in place. Multi height reduces clearance when off-roading

At last I got my Discovery 3, drove home through the borders yesterday and it was great.
Having read the a bit of the handbook last night I don't know if it should have come with the detachable tow bar or not, can anyone tell me?
Thanks in advance!
I don't intend towing but if it should have one I'd like one. Cambridge Blue TDV6 S Manual
