Second user cars are still on the forecourts at high prices. Before you buy ask for its history. The dealer part exchange price for a MY05 'S' is around £23K at the moment with low miles on the clock and of course depending on condition, but that is for an immaculate one.
If they are offering HSE's for around £38K now, that means the part ex in about a year will be around £27 to £29K in excellent condition with low miles.

I know that feeling.... Thankfully a change in my financial circumstances is going to allow me to 'drink champagne' real soon now! 8)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Or the Autotrader or Exchange & Mart sites if you want to see 'private' prices, which are a little less.
If you have deep pockets, V8s are dead cheap, but will cost more to run than the TDV6 and judging by the horrendous amount of depreciation they have already suffered, will only get cheaper e.g. V8 SE less than £30K, which is a £12k drop in less than a year.No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

V8's have always been a money loser in this country and a £12K loss in one year is not bad for them. One of the cars in your link is my old reject car and I would not touch it with a barge pole. If you look in Land Rover Enthusiast magazine you will see it complete with number plate. The same vehicle is on the official LR list complete with number plate, be careful.
