Drive the parking brake to mounting position without LR Diag

Could anybody explain how to

Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, drive the parking brake to the 'mounting position'.

But without the Land Rover approved diagnostic system?

Regards

Chris

If you mean placing the EPB in 'service mode':
    ▪ Turn the ignition key to pos II
    ▪ Apply and hold the footbrake
    ▪ Apply and hold the EPB switch down (to release)
    ▪ Turn the ignition key to pos 0 and remove the key
    ▪ Release the footbrake
    ▪ Release the EPB switch
Note: turning the ignition on releases EPB from 'service mode'.

If you are replacing or adjusting the shoes, or installing new discs, then the bedding-in procedure should be performed as well (Note: bedding-in mode cancels if ignition is turned off or if vehicle goes over 30mph).
To enter bedding-in mode
    ▪ Start the engine
    ▪ Apply the footbrake 3x in 10 secs and hold on the 3rd time
    ▪ Apply the EPB switch 4x up then 3x down in 10 secs
To perform bedding-in
    ▪ From approx 20mph, apply and hold EPB switch
    ▪ Release EPB switch and wait 1 minute for cooling
    ▪ Repeat steps above 10x

If you meant something else, then please ignore above. Very Happy

PS - Disabling the EPB circuit while working on it is prudent. Fusible Link 8 in BJB.

Does that mean

1. Up, Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down

or 2. Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up

Thats exactly what I meant (I think) and thank you very much, adjusting mine this weekend.

Just reading the GTR stuff which obviously assumes Ive got LR diag equipment

"Parking Brake Shoe and Lining Adjustment (70.40.11)
NOTE:
NOTE:
1. Check the parking brake for correct operation.
2.
Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, drive the parking brake to the 'mounting position'."

Cheers

Chris

The new procedure may in fact be relevant for MY08.5 and MY09 owners. I don't know if the EPB module software has been changed for the newer models. Time for some research...

PS - I edited the op to reflect that it's as Gareth said.

Can anyone confirm if using the procedure to set mounting position (up up up up down down down etc. Rolling Eyes ) Do you get a message in the message center to confirm that it has entered the mounting mode?

I know you do get a message to confirm Bedding her In procedure, I never managed to get one with mounting her.

just thought I'd slip that in before the jokes started Wink

Will any of the above prevent it screaming? ie In service mode is it temporarily disabled?

Would like to hush it when I sell it on Saturday Whistle

From what I read you get a red flashing light!

"CAUTION: When the vehicle is in the 'mounting position' a red flashing light will appear on the
instrument cluster. This indicates that the parking brake actuator is in the 'mounting position'. It does not
indicate a vehicle fault."

WARNING! the up down shake it all about is for bedding in not mounting

I believe that when the 'key out apply inhibit' mode is active ('service mode' - not bedding-in mode), that the instrument cluster confirms by flashing the red park brake indicator. I'll double-check that in a little while.

About the 'disabling of EPB prior to sale', no comment Smile - except to say the prospective buyer could also be a forum member Rolling Eyes . Also, updated the op to reflect how the EPB comes out of 'service mode'.
