Hunting Revs
With the recent cold weather the morning start has resulted in the engine hunting at idle. Its not too obvious but you can feel the car rock slightly form side to side along with the revs. It goes away after it has warmed up or been driven.
I think normal idle is about 700 rpm but watching the counter it probably peaks at 1000rpm. I seem to recall from last winter that on really cold starts the engine management cranks up the idle to around 1000rpm before dropping back to normal after it has warmed up. I wonder if the recent cold starts are borderline and it can't make its mind up.
Other than that I can only guess it is something like the Air flow or Air temperature meter that is failed/failing to give accurate temp information to the engine management.
Any ideas??
