Where is the Mic?

I have read many threads on voice recognition and have tried the 753 diagnostics to check the mic, but where is it located? Confused It's in the roof lining somewhere I guess, but to the side at the front? Confused

I thought if I found out where it was I could shout in a specific direction and perhaps, just perhaps, I would give a command and not have it immediately followed by "sorry?" Evil or Very Mad or when I say "Phone redial" she replies "Radio tune 99xxxx" Banging Head

Maybe if you are shouting at her, that's your problem. Very Happy

I often find that speaking in a calm clear voice avoids the usual reply of 'Navigation - Airport' Rolling with laughter

The mic (IIRC) is in the interior light cluster but directed towards the drivers side.

I've had almost no problems (even with my scouse accent) - like AVE says, just speak in a normal voice and things seem to work fine.

When I first got the D3, I tried speaking v-e-r-y slowly and VERY loudly - neither worked.
 I see no ships........

Might be obvious, but have you checked what language it is set to? Mine was set to US English and it it could hardly recognise a single digit when I tried to record a number - changed it to UK English and managed to record the whole phone number in one go 1st time.

As said its in the light cluster

Behind the little grill /vent

To remove the light cluster , pull down from the front ( nearest screen ) ..if you need to check that the mic is located in its holder
