Landy had to go in today to check out these occasional "transmission fault" warnings we've been getting and decided to do an early service before our December vac (counting the sleeps, roll on the 19th!!). I chose Midrand as a result of the posts on this forum mentioning them in a positive light, so lets hope the posts are accurate. Of course we'll make it... were in a landy!

Well, I retrieved my vehicle this am and was pleased to see that they had done everything that I asked of them, which was to attend to the transmission fault, do a service (pre holiday) and attend to some minor things (brake light bulb and annoying windscreen washer jet pipe that keeps popping off).
the results: transmission fault is due to low voltage, so battery must be on the way out. Battery was tested and found to be ok but not great. Landrover wont replace it until its properly I mentioned a way to fry a battery quickly and Vincent demured so passed my integrity test. During the service they noticed my front discs were worn and replaced them and the pads . this impressed me as I wanted to do this but didnt think they would do it until much later or unless I asked them to. I asked them to do the air filter which they apparently did. ( I didint see the parts though as I was in a rush)
All In all I am impressed. I was quite specific and probably demanding in what I wanted in such a short time. Vincent was professional and friendly. Although its far out of my way, Ill probably use them again for my personal vehicle and will give them a ring when I buy a new vehicle in jan for my business.
If youre reading guys, well done! Of course we'll make it... were in a landy!

Took me 2 hours from Randburg and back this morning - SWAMBO not very happy getting up at 06h00
Will only go there in future if they can give me a courtesy vehicle (does not have to be LR).
3 other dealerships are much closer to me - within 10 km's.
Up to now not worth the effort going there - they did not even invite me to the golf Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

Land Rover Midrand
Had the 24K service done in Oct. Had to take it back for replacement of the door rubber which was not looking too good.
This was ordered and done about a month ago.. The techy made such a mess that the new door rubber is actually worse than before and hanging loose. Still waiting for new one to get delivered for fitment.
Same day I asked them to fit my Raised air intake which has been in the garage since early this year.. I noticed just before we left do go diving the next day that it was not flush against the body of the car, removed the cover plugs on the side and then saw that they only fixed one of the 2 mounting screws... took it back yesterday and got it sorted..
I also raised a concern around the last oil change.. I removed steer guard for cleaning post the last service (lots of mud driving) and noticed it was never removed, neither was the sump plug... I know because I do an in-bewteen oil change myself and mark them No I wonder how the new oil got into that engine... ???
But.. it’s my second D3 and LR Midrand still employ the best service advisors out there.. the techies will screw it up, but they will get things sorted. I'm TorqTuned

AFAIK newer engines get drained (sucked?) from the top and some do not even have a sump plug. When my TD5 got overfilled during one service they actually used it to suck out excess oil.
BTW got the Synovate call yesterday - so if D3 drops a place or two when the next set of results are made known you will know why Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor
