LR3 V6 PETROL - LOW COOLANT PROBLEM
Hi friends. I am from dubai and new to the land rover family. Did not expect to join a forum with a problem but its turned out that way. Got myself a lr3 v6 in august 08. been very pleased with it till the coolant problem cropped up. First time around (2 months back)after a desert drive the coolant just came gushing out like a geyser and thereafter the vehicle just packed up, refusing to start (guess it was a safety procedure by all the intelligent electronics). Couple of days back and 3k after the 1st incident got an ominous "low coolant level " warning. Took it straight to the agency and was told the engine has an intermittent overheating problem( reasons unkown). Still awaiting the final verdict from them. Anyone experienced something similar? Any information on the subject deeply appreciated.

I think Hernan (Hernan1304?) had a similar problem.
He ended up convincing LR to replace the complete motor. The Bearded Dragon

1st time round the coolant came gushing out when i was idling after a drive. No overheating indicated. 2nd time round got the low coolant message just after turning on ignition at the end of the day ( practically a cold start). thereafter message did not appear and i drove my suv all the way to the dealer ( all along with an eye on the gauge). No overheating indicated at all.
Latest news i got from my local dealer is that they suspect pressure build up and they have opened up the engine. they are in touch with UK engineers to sort out the matter. i guess my worst fear have come true that it is more serious than a simple malfunctioning float. On some forums i have come across head gasket failure or extra pressure build up as a cause of slow coolant leak. i will have to wait a couple of days more for the complete picture
i need to document my case properly just in case it turns out to be a recurrent problem. in that case i hope to get a permanent solution like Hernan.
Dear friends anyone who faced a similar fate please contribute your experience.

Hi nessen,
Today I have confirmed that Hernan's username is "hernan1304". Perhaps you could send him a PM.The Bearded Dragon

i've also got an instant "low coolant level" just a minute after start up...
Until now i'd like to believe that its actually the low level. I filled up with 800ml of coolant/distilled water..
