Where is the Mic?
I have read many threads on voice recognition and have tried the 753 diagnostics to check the mic, but where is it located? It's in the roof lining somewhere I guess, but to the side at the front?
I thought if I found out where it was I could shout in a specific direction and perhaps, just perhaps, I would give a command and not have it immediately followed by "sorry?" or when I say "Phone redial" she replies "Radio tune 99xxxx"

I often find that speaking in a calm clear voice avoids the usual reply of 'Navigation - Airport' As you slide down the banister of life

The mic (IIRC) is in the interior light cluster but directed towards the drivers side.
I've had almost no problems (even with my scouse accent) - like AVE says, just speak in a normal voice and things seem to work fine.
When I first got the D3, I tried speaking v-e-r-y slowly and VERY loudly - neither worked.I see no ships........

Might be obvious, but have you checked what language it is set to? Mine was set to US English and it it could hardly recognise a single digit when I tried to record a number - changed it to UK English and managed to record the whole phone number in one go 1st time.(57) 2008 HSE

Cheers Wiggs. nice picture - don't tell me you took that 'specially? Your family and neighbours must have wondered what you were doing taking a camera into your car late at night
