December holidays

Well just returned to work after an excellent holliday down the coast. I covered 3700 km in total and it was largely trouble free. I say largely, because whilst in East London, whilst just "popping into woolies to pick up something" Censored Evil or Very Mad whilst waiting paitiently in a que to get into the parking lot, this ( uninsured) twit in a Toymotor conquest ran into the back of me quite hard. After a few choice words from my wife, I got out check it out. Thankfully, apart from a small (1cm) cut in the bumper, after wiping his paint off, there was zero damage. His car was un-drivable as the radiator had been cracked. A few days later In Kenton on Sea, my wife modified the door of the car belonging to a friend of a friend we had only just met Embarassed So I suppose Ill be paying for that excess Rolling Eyes Big Cry. apart from that had an awsome time.
Below are the pics of the accident

Quite interesting that the two of you from Gauteng choose to meet by accident in East London Rolling with laughter

During our short stay on the KZN Southcoast I have changed my view on the worst drivers in SA - used to be Free State , but now definitely Eastern Cape.

After a scenic drive into the midlands, joined the N2 about 40km's from Port Shepstone - on 3 occasions vehicles overtook on solid line and forcing their way back in to avoid head on collisions. All 3 EC number plates. There are several spots where speed limit is 80km/h due to pedestrian crossings - these get totally ignored (with fixed cameras nogal) by these vehicles Evil or Very Mad
Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

Defender TD5 110 CSW '00. "With everything"

I also drove that section (in fact I drove the N2 from Port shepstone all the way to Kenton and then later PE) Ill agree, especially in the transkei, road rules and signs seem to be suggestions rather than absolutes. In the towns, Butterworth Evil or Very Mad Censored Evil or Very Mad especially rules dont apply at all, it seems to be every man/car/bus/cow for itself. My personal favorite was the dude who though it would be smart to avoid the 3km long traffic que going into butterworth, by driving in reverse on the wrong side of the road. when this ingenious fellow got to the traffic officer (impresive, they had one) conducting the traffiche was stopped. the officer then stopped traffic from all directions and then spent 5 minutes Censored ing the guy out before telling him to wait on the side of the road and the getting back to allowing trafic to flow Rolling with laughter

As for the twit from Gauteng who pranged his car against my bumper, I think his holiday was ruined, there were at least 4 kids and 3 adults in it. (who says the conquest isnt a 7 seater Shocked )

Come to think of it, I dont ever recall seeing that many cameras in so short a distance, my garmin sounded like a christmas toy with all its warning "bing bing"

Good reason to leave your tow bar fitted...... It modifies rear-enders big time & protects your asset! Rolling with laughter
