Some positive thoughts (for a change)
Just arrived (safely) at our holiday destination on the KZN South Coast.
D3 operating flawlessly after EGR project, new shocks and new brake pads. Fuel consumption over 735km's - 11,2 L/100 km,s with off-road trailer. Must admit never went above 120km/h (ok - only a few times !) - traffic police all over the place in addition to numerous fixed cameras.
I wanted to have fuel filter replaced before the trip (0n 60k km's at present), but never got round to it - but , touch wood, no problem pushing revs over 4k.
So, this could be my new years resolution - no bitching, only compliments for the D3 Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

It's me, it's me - I promise
Also achieved 8,5l/100km once travelling to QwaQwa and back - had set cruise control with revs exactly on 2k and command shift locked in 6th gear - no passengers, no trailer, no rr, no worries Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

Hi
I believe to good fuel consumption. I picked up my new 2009 spec TDV6 S D3 from the dealer on 19 Dec and drove it down to the KZN South Coast on the 21st. I was amazed to see 9.0L/100km cruising at 120-125 most of the way. Never got better than 10.8 L/100km on my D2
That's beyond expectation for an engine with only 100-odd km on the clock to start. Now got 1400km and starting to get a bit more responsive. Does the '09 spec have a new/upgraded fuel map?
Cheers
Dave
PS & BTW: It's good to be back in a LR again after a year out of one....

Hi everyone, had our holiday at Golden Gate in the Drankensberg. Fuel Consumption to Golden Gate was 10.5l/100km, on the way back 8.3 to 8.5 l/100km. Maybe all the crap is out of the engine after the EGR prpject.

Saw a new spec TDV6 S (black) down at Ski boat beach today - looked like it had PDC - is this part of the new spec on a S model Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

Hi Deon
Yup, the '09 spec S has moved up quite a bit, which is why I went for it after dithering for a year or so. Seemed a step down in features from my D2 XS/SE, albeit a bigger vehicle and better in many other ways.
It's got PDC on the rear, not front, though. Other than that it's got pretty much everything the SE up till now has had, bar roof rails, nav system and a couple of other really minor irrelevancies. I can get roof rails for R3K, if I ever wanted a r/rack and I've enough gps systems to open a shop, so no loss for me there...
Cheers
Dave

Just be aware that the LR rails will limit you in choice of RR - unless you want to go for the LR RR. I believe the absence of rails on the S model is a blessing in disguise as you can get superior rails and a wider choice of racks from guys like FrontrunnerErstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

My thoughts exactly....
Would it be rude to ask what you're doing posting replies to the forum at 4.30 on a Sunday morning....
