Insurance for a 23 year old? |
|
Hi guys. Im thinkin of buying a second hand D3 this year but i really needed to know how much the insurance would likely to be. Iv had no bumps or claims (although i havnt been on my own insurance) and have been driving for four years now (currently 23 years old). I love the discos and our family has a history of owning them from when we lived in Saudi Arabia for 3 years so im desperate for one!!!any help would be great.
cheers

Best way is to do an online quote via tescos 'compare the market' or via the go compare sites or confused.com
I'd expect that it would be hefty, but you never know until you try

Welcome! Best bet is to ring a few places or try compare.com.
We're all a bit older on here, but those that have seeked to add offspring onto the car have been met with some suprising shocks!!!
FWIW NFU and LR insurance will cover off road use, but NFU like proven drivers in rural areas. It may work for you, or it may not, but keep up updated whichever way you go . Bodsys Brake Bible

Welcome to the forum
I would think your best bet is to ring around a few insurance companies or test the water with some online quotes. Insurance is a funny thing in that no two quotes are ever the same even if peoples circumatances are similar. Just simple things like your postcode can make huge differences in the quote.

Welcome
I would ring around a few places that specialise in offroad cover (assuming you want to use it off road). All the online quotes dont seem to cover Off-Road use or allow you to declare modifications.

are a few you could try. Duncan

I would consider rob the bank mate. The current ways of the insurance companies are hit the young or newly insured. I feel its wrong but we all have to start somewhere.
Maybe it will be a bit more prudent to buy a banger for a year, get a years NCD then try again if you aint successful.

£800 doesn't sound that bad... JUst bought an 08 xs before Christmas.... LR wanted the earth... NFU wouldn't touch me as I'm in the Armed Forces. based on the amount of driving my Wife and I do (she's got 5yrs on you) we upped the voluntary excess and got it under £400.... It's swings and roundabouts .. If we don't make a claim this year we save £250 if we do then we've dipped out.. I wouldn't be too shocked with £800... Bet you could tweek it down £200 ..
Good luck. But don't let the insurance put you off... The car is amazing and and is worth it!!
Regards Nick Frost..
PS My Def 90 is with Adrian Flux V. good D3 is with Churchill of all people... Disco 3 '08.5 XS Rimini Red, Driving Lights. Sadly sold, but still for sale in Ireland
Defender 110 XS in Oslo blue, awaiting some TLC and a good trip somewhere

Got mine on 8k limitation, and that is positively galactic if I get anywhere near that.....................Been driving since 17yrs in 1987 and never claimed nor had an accident
So it does pay to be a snsible driver in the end.
