Snorkel and sump guard

Just fitted the guard had to re drill the bolt holes in the chassis to line the sump guard up then elongate the sump holes to line up then it was ok will have to come in two week for the next project. The snorkel not bad to fit but you need the nut rivet gun i have two of these any body that needs to borrow these they can just pay for the post and a donation to the site the return to me Idea

We ended up elongating the rear holes in the sump guard too, was okay before the winch was fitted but once that was on the mod was needed

Did you drill any drainage holes in the guard? I recommend you do if not, it's easy to get mud & water in the large hole around the recovery point but there's nowhere as standard on the guard for it to get back out again easily!

Guys,

The following accessories have appeared on the Australian LR website.

-Snorkel

-Under body protection

-Rear Ladder

http://www.landrover.com.au/au/en/Vehicles...urator.htm

I assume these are the same accessories you have fitted to your D3's in the UK.

What I would like to know is:
1. Snorkel
- Can this be fitted by yourself (assume you have some minor mechanical skill)?
2. Does the snorkel create any wind noise or whistle that is a concern?
3. What is a nut riveter? Do you need this?
4. Are the fitting instructions very detailed?
5. Do you need to drill any of the panels, if you do how did you seal the hole where the paint will be damaged?

2. Underbody protection
-Does this replace any of the original steel protection under the sump?
-Does it reduce the front approach angle?
-Does it utilise existing bolt holes?
-What is it made from - Aluminium?
-Does it provide increase protection or is it really on there for looks?

3. Rear ladder
-Has anyone fitted one?
-I suppose it is fixed to the metal somehow, any detail how it is mounted?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

According to the fitting instructions on the GTR, you have to drill a couple of holes above the existing intake and another one through the plastic thingo that runs up the A pillar.

I'd be interesetd to hear about the noise level. I've never had a car with a snorkel, so I'd like to hear from someone who has!
 Have a nice day!

Jamo,

Thanks, I'll download the instructions from the GTR.

I just rang my Dealer to enquire about the cost and availabilit of the 3 parts and they can't even find them in any catalogue LRA has supplied to them Shocked

They have just sent off a request to LRA to confirm if these parts are available.

If they aren't then why does LRA put them on their Website???
