Lightforce 170s and Mounting to Bumper Using LR Kit
Apologies if this has been covered before but i am new and i have searched (or tryed to at least)....
I bought a pair of LF 170s to mount to the bumper and was told the LR Fitting kit should be used to do this as it was simplest and a good bit of kit.
The guys who have tended to do bits and bobs to my cars are normally very proficient but they said that the kit cannot at first glance be used to fit the lamps. I am reluctant to trade in the LF lamps for the Land Rover ones as they appear to be inferior in terms of output.
Is it the case that the kit is no use and does anyone have a solution if this is the case?
Any guidance much appreciated!!

The LR fixing kit is not a straight fit for the LF's. The D3 bumper is hollow under the top, so any attempt to fix a light there will not work. The LR fixing kit provides a post from the underneath cross-member to the bumper, providing a secure fixing point for the lights. The final 'mount' will need to be fabricated.

thanks for that DiscoStu, I will now need to get someone to fabricate a mount or might just end up buying an A frame and returning the mounting kit...............argh

I have the same issue. I bought a pair of LF170's (yes once upon a time, they were on your car too Stu ). I already have the LR standard spotlamps and bumper mounts fitted.
I have tried to mount the LF's but as yet have not succeeded. There is a huge 54mm hole cut into the top of my bumper to accomodate the the LR lamp mounting and post. I can see it would be pretty easy to make a bracket to bolt to the top of the post, which would then hold the LF lamp, but how do you hide the big hole and bracket?
My initial thoughts were to cut up the LR original shroud that fits under the LR lights, and glue it on or something.
Any thoughts?

Hmmm, not that easy I'd forgotten that the light actually forms the front part of the 'cover'. It'd be easier if you've never had the lamps, as you wouldn't have to drill such a big hole.Disco 5 HSE Lux

A rubber disc shaped like this (or maybe flat)? 40/50mm dia.
Hole through centre, when the light is bolted down it seals the hole? Only bit of the mounting kit you use is the post.Disco 5 HSE Lux

Look at what you could have won 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
