Uncle Ray should be able to weld something up using old brake discs! - A bit heavy, but wonderfully eco-friendly , recycling-aware etc and CHEAP .
Circular wotsits waste a lot of material - makes sense to use round things wot 'ave been thrown away...
I'm willing to look at the design side (for the gizmo in the centre) - anyone any thoughts on the most reliably available brake disc? It makes sense always to use the same size/shape, but it's not essential. Ventilated would be lighter, of course (Welding ceramic ones might be challenging...) 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

I know no one wants to go into too much detail about the removal of wheels by scroats, but in talking to my tyre fitter, he said the only ones he's know of be nicked are when the owner/garage have put the wheel back underneath shiny side down (i.e, the wrong way). And, when I refitted my spare, I always line up one of the spokes with the cable so that it cant be seen - Can you still get to it, or is that not where the cable gets chopped?

not cheap, and a poor color choice - should be black so it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb , although i gather you can't acutally see it when fitted
Well mine is black
the "gizmo" in the middle to protect cable and spring is very well put together and I think that is where the challenge cost is (along with waste) all anodised / plastic coated. . the disc is also "formed" to fit the profile inside the spare.
FWIW I think it's good valve, it's just not as bling as a mantec, RAI etc . . . but cheaper than a new winch and wheel.
Now if they could protect my flippin towbar "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Yep, from what I can see it's the middle bit that makes it -proof I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

In the text it refers to keeping your insurance no claims bonus - oh and not finding out that it's been nicked until 3 in the morning with a flat in the middle of the lake district "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
