On the Way to the Snowdonia Off Road event on Sunday morning it felt like I'd got a puncture.
Stopped to check but no puncture, so drove on about 10 miles with the steering wheel wobbling around - wheels need balencing I thought.
Get into Bala to check again - it turns out that one of the wheel studs on the FNS had completly sheered off and the vibrations had loosened two of the other studs to such an extent that they were only about two turns from dropping out altogether!!
Anyone experienced anything similar??
Phone call to the dealer tommorrow to try and extract the stud - covered under warranty, I'll bet not!!!

I would have thought that the sheared one was caused by them being slightly lose in the first place rather than one shearing and causing the others to become lose. Nuts coming lose on lorries is a common problem hence the yellow plastic markers on each bolt which allows you to see at a glance if one has worked lose.

Who was the last person to touch the wheels? Have you 'had them off' yourself or maybe the dealer? Has it just been aligned/balanced?

The pointers point at each other ( in pairs). If the pointers do not meet or misalign then you know a nut has loosened.
Frenchy , whoever replaced your wheels last didn't tighten the nuts properly and forgot to check them after driving for further loosening.

I always check and torque my nuts after they have been taken off by someone else!!
Seriously though i never trust garages thats why i always check and when i have had them do an oil change i always check to make sure they have filled it with oil.
If i have changed a wheel i recheck the nuts after 50 miles or so. Having run lorries for years its a habit i have got into. I wonder if anyone does the wheel check markers for 22mm wheel nuts?? Corrado Vr6

not for recessed ones I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I changed the wheels myself about two weeks ago - don't have a torque wrench but tightened them up to as reasonably tight as they would go without using any extra leverage on the LR wheel brace.

Like the sound of them "pointers", they would look fantastic.

can you get them in black? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
