Alternative approach to blanking - maybe? |
|
Now this is purely theoretical, so bear with me...
Would it be possible to simply bypass the butterfly valve with a bridge between the air inlet pipe and the EGR inputs (behind the butterfly)? Obviously suitable hoses would need to be fabricated to fit between the exisiting air inlet pipe and EGR inputs. The EGR pipe ends would need to be blanked also.
The is would negate the need to remove or disable the butterfly valve. Whether it is open or closed fresh, clean, air would be drawn into the engine.
Having never taken the cover off my engine, I don't know if there would be space to do this, but wanted to throw the idea into the pot.

just not worth it - its an easy job to blank the EGR's and remove the butterfly link, and fix it open. Its also not "openly" obvious to anybody looking at the motor.
