Trip To France In January And I Got STUCK! |
|
Ok, before anybody says it, yes I had to go there to pick some friends up, who had to be back for the Monday, so I thought it would be a nice drive down to the south of france for the weekend.
I did not really pay attention to the weather, but the A20 was shut due to snow drifts 20 inches deep, so I took a cross country course via D roads to my destination.
Got within 30 miles, and came up a small hill, tried to turn rig on the T junction but the car decided it wanted to go straight on, and into a ditch.....
Tried to get out, but the front passengers wheel was in the ditch, the front drivers wheel was not really gripping in the muddy/icy condition (off road now remember!) the left pass wheel was in a block of icy, and the rear drivers wheel was at full extension but again not gripping at all.
To make things worst as I was trying to get unstuck, the car was twisting and the back was moving down the ditch side, and I had major worries that If I pushed it anymore the whole car would just slide into the ditch and turn over.
Was stuck for 8 hours till the gritters came down the road to clear it and then another 3 until a decent 4x4 (Toyota) stopped and pulled me out, which took 4-5 mins!!!
I have posted the pictures to my Gallery, have a look, also posted AVIs of a bit of the trip.
The car was very capable and overall did extremely well, I would say that any other 4x4 in this suituation would not have go tout either.

The rest of the trip was fine, thanks, best thing of all was that the car did not suffer one bit of damage.....
