I've used Pentland since 2004 with no issues bought 2 cars and had all work done there - To be honest think it depends on who you deal with -
Can only take it as I find it but I have noticed that the chaps I have dealt with, are not there now - Will see what happens next time I'm in - good to know that the Kelso guys are ok - Would not venture to the other Edinburgh dealers for anything - Stra***** TDV6 HSE - Silver

Not had to use Pentland or Stratstone yet for service. (only done 5000 miles) but the sales side at Pentland was absolutely useless when I first went looking. Couldn't be bothered to get off their a*ses to come and serve us and when they eventually did then couldn't really be bothered to let us have a drive in a D3. Mind you they had so many vehicles in stock then that it would have taken them 1/2 hr to get the demo vehicle out.
I recall a post that the LR dealer in Stirling is worth a go (Morrisons ?) Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

Anyone know if the one outside Cupar is any good?
Pentland caused a fair bit of damage to our D3, were extremely poor with sales (ie. didn't even leave their back office), lied and failed to fix presented problems. They also charged several £100s more than other dealers for an annual service. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

The dealer in Cupar is Stratstone. Went there with my father to replace his discovery, but were useless. Ended up going to Perth, yes another Stratsone. Much better sales service. I got my DISCO3 from there as well. Had been into Pentland, but didn't seem interested.
Managed to stay clear of Pentland for servicing.
I would say the guys in the parts department at Pentland are excellent. There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

Stratstones, Cupar lousy on sales, more people who can't be bothered, but good on servicing if you price match. The valeting after the car goes in is exceptional.

Great forum... read it every day, albeit I'm a 'virgin' poster...!!!
About to try Andy White (White's Auto Services) in Edinburgh, pal of mine sent his new Defender there for its 1st service, full LR parts and LR stamp in his book for half the price of Pentland, said he couldn't fault it.
My D3 goes there next week for brakes and tail gate latch!!!

I've had my car in to Whites a couple of times now for small jobs, screaming EPB and new battery and they have been great each time and I would recommend them. Andy seems a top bloke and the work has always been done quickly. Only a short walk into town too, so plenty of chance to waste some time until the car is ready

MrB, thanks for your recommendation.
This probably a silly question but I take using this guy, providing he uses LR parts etc will keep the warranty intact?
But presumably he is unable to actually do any warranty repairs ?? Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

digilox, my car is out of warranty now so I dont know sorry.
I have taken the Tesco warranty out and as far as I know they are able to do work for them. Its worth asking the question considering all parts are genuine and the techs are ex landrover.
