Speed

Good Day to all. Back online at last.hope you all had a good start to the year

Quick question to the speed boys. I had to do a job out near Grobblarsdal last week. Now this is the first time i have realy whacked the car as i knew the roads where clear as one of my staff had just gone through the area. At about 3500 rpm the motor lost power and the regained it. This was repeated 4 times.
It felt like the motor was goverened, So is the TDV6 MY07 governed??

I know that a certain white D3 goes over 200 but i was under this.

When I had (please note HAD Exclamation ) the problem with the diesel filter the engine would cut out on exactly 4000rpm, irrespective of speed. It then went into limp mode and you had switch ignition off and on again to clear it.

Also felt like it is being governed, but dealers assured me that it is not. There could be a safety cut-out on the speedo ? I know some models you can set an alarm to remind you if you go over certain speed eg 120km/h.

I assume you were in 6th gear, so what speed were you doing @ 3500rpm ? Promise I will not tell the cops Rolling with laughter

I haven't pushed mine over 160km/h yet.

I've had mine up to around the 180 mark ,but seeing that I had the STT's and the roof rack on and it was getting a bit skittish I chickened out . I will do a speed run this weekend

The top speed is stated at 180kmh on the spec sheet. TBH, I have never gone that fast in mine, although I do remember witnessing (from the passenger seat) the Mrs. towing our conqueror at 170 Shocked so if it is limited its not a function of available power, more likely electronically limited for safety reasons.

But, now you make me wanna go test. Tell you what, when I get her back from upper wishbone bush surgery I will take her out on a quiet highway with a GPS, and see what the max really is. Group speeding anyone?

I actually tried to go for a speed run the other night but there was too much traffic - even at 10:30 on a Sunday Rolling Eyes

What I did discover is that you need a lot more space than you do in a car .

The bushes had worn to such an extent that the wishbone was contacting the chassis. Still handled fairly OK though. Sorted out under warranty by the best dealer in SA, so nothing to cry about

ya know, I never got round to this speeding thing, and now the STT's and roofrack are back on in anticipation of the April holiday. Will have to wait a bit. Is the top speed really important? If I wanna go fast I have a couple of much better options than a big LR

What were the symptoms Question

Got stuck in heavy traffic yesterday and to kill boredom I played around with a lot of D3 STUFF. I noticed a very clear metallic "clunck" when in raised suspension in both high and low range (more pronounced in low range) when pulling off and again when releasing accelerator. I could hear the clunk and also feel it in the steering. Everything normal in the other two suspension settings. Rolling Eyes

nah, there was no clunk at all, I just noticed a couple of circular marks where the aft side of the wishbone had been contacting the chassis
Deon, you remind me of another friend of mine, Gary, whom we used to ride bikes with- we called him ""Tick" Doohan" Rolling with laughter

Agree - rather test the car fully loaded somewhere like Hennops Whistle

FWIW I did try the speed run one night and I never had enough clear highway to get up higher than 180 . Used to do that in my driveway with the M5 Laughing
