DSC SWITCHED OFF??WARNING

Does anyone else have this message come up??

When I start the D3 up first thing, if the temperature outside is below 4C, 'DSC switched off' comes up on the message centre screen. No warning light, just the message for a few seconds. It does not do this on warmer days or when I start up a second time again later. LR say there is no fault when they run it on their diagnostic thingummys. Another software problem?

Definitely not normal.

Maybe a loose connector or dodgy sensor ??

No, never seen that. Could be a low voltage problem. Has your dealer done anything, or are they in total denial?

Most likely to be a voltage sensitivity during the "boot up" system check. I'd ignore it.

Low voltage was also an issue with the transfer box prior to WDS release 13, as long as it clears on restart, no worries, you could always try prodding the DSC button to switch it on

I have been using two strategies for this one :

1) Don't look at the screen until I'm up and running and the nasty message has gone away.

2) If I forget and have a sneeky peep I pretend it's supposed to say that.

Does not seem to have any effect on anything. DSC switch works just as it should.

LR tried twice and now ignoring it as nothing to worry about. Shall continue to do the same unless warned otherwise.

Thank you for advice again!! Very helpful - been here a few days now and quite like it, I think I'll stay!

To quote Basil Fawlty "Hmmmm... a satisfied customer... should have him stuffed!" Shocked
DSC off is nothing to worry about at startup, although i'd make sure it was on before howling round the leafy lanes of Kent - just in case they're the 'wrong sort of leaves', it can be a great safety net on road... Wink

glad you're happy here Very Happy we tries our best!

Or I could be a 'her', which could sort of change the meaning entirely!

Must go now, lots of ironing to do. Ha, ha.

I've had this one. Quite disturbing when you first see it. I had got used to it when it didn't seem to affect the DSC (a bit like the Transfer Gearbox unavailable).

Since I had a new CJB (Central Junction Box) fitted for the fuel flap not locking it hasn't done it, although I sometimes get the message about the Transfer Gearbox.

I also have the "DSC off" warning come up on cold starts; not always but quite frequently. Its not telling the truth as it gives the audio alarm to warn me I am still in my garage. Only been there since they put in a new DSC control unit and up dated the Infonav system software. Also now see the Transfer Gearbox unavailable signal as well on some other cold starts.

If you are getting both regularly, and the temperature is not sub-zero, get the dealer to check your battery & charging system
Do you have lots of short or stop - start journeys? this could be gradually depleting the battery, leading to the voltage dip during cranking. I've noticed that a precursor to low voltage induced messages is the NAV screen blanking during cranking - a good sign I need to give it a squirt along a fast road for 30 - 40 mins or so to recharge the battery Wink
