This is quite the opposite of what I thought, so I'm also VERY interested to read some "authorized" answers ? AJS ? A second D3 ! This time with all whistles and bells (Auto, 7seats, Diff Lock, RAI, all kinds of protections, winch, Extended range tank, iPod adapter....)
First time twice the same car ! and first time third car of the same brand !
I'm loving it !

It's the opposite - because you can run on lower pressures with the 17".

Also with 17 " you have more flex in the tyre wall which allows for better traction and less chance of tyre damage

the dealer justified his opinion telling me that in this way the wheels have a<bigger> so better traction. Also he was invited at the the field where LR tests our toys and all the Discos was fitted on 19"

He wasn't selling a set by chance was he. And his selling point was that they were better than the 17's you have fitted HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

The overall rolling circumference/diameter of tyres is the same whether it is on 17, 18 or 19" rim!

I thought 17's were great for off roading TBH. Less chance of rim damage given the amount of tyre wall on a 17 as apposed to a 19

True Ken - it's sidewall size that's important.
The problem with runflats off-road is that they don't 'air down' well - i.e. lowering the pressure has no effect so less traction etc.
