Hi
Any advice please.
SOMETIMES I am getting a whining noise from my car.
Started a few days ago.
Sometimes there and sometimes not.
More noticeable when accelerating or pulling away.
Sometimes there for a while and sometimes fades away!
VERY strange!
Car APPEARS to be running fine though.

What tyres are fitted and how much tread left on them?
Also could be the early signs of diff failure.

General Grabber AT2's with less than 5000 mikes on them.
It is not tyre noise.
Sounds like a big fan running at high speed!

sorry With that many mikes i'm not surprised it's louder than normal I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

It sounds like it could be the viscous cooling fan. It always makes a load roaring noise for a few seconds after cold start. Its normal.

But it happens when the car is hot as well.

Possibly overheating? have you checked the water? also could be a false sensor reading.

No, it is not a squeal and typically re-shows itself on acceleration, then gently fades away!
