Battery disconnection

Next week my new Disco3 will be fitted with my trusty VDO Dayton Satnav 5000, which has been removed from my old TD5. The job will be carried out by a reputable auto electrician who sells and fits such equipment. However, I don't know whether they have fitted one to a Disco 3.
Fitting the VDO is fairly invasive and I think that I have read in a previous posting that disconnection of the car battery can result in erroneous warnings or messages when the ignition is switched on again.
My Disco3 is brand new and maybe I am overconcerned but I don't need problems and I certainly do not want to invalidate the warranty. Therefore I would be grateful if anyone can advise on what precautions should be taken when carrying out such work. At least I can then flag potential issues to the installer.
Thanks in advance. Bow down

Its most important to make sure the car is fully aneasthetised prior to disconnection.

To do this make sure the key has been turned off and removed for at least 120 seconds, then check its all lights out on the dash. The radio display should be blank, and the (P) park brake symbol extinguished before you pull the plug.
