Installing a Fridge

Is it possible to retro-fit a cubby-hole fridge to an MY05 HSE?

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. 8) Ask your dealer for the part cost and see if they'll intstall it. Now, will it be worth the cost (parts + labor)? Definitely not. (Compared to the price of any portable electric cooler.)

I have just bought a pepsi branded one in Somerfields for £15, it just plugs into one of the power points. Works great and it holds more, and if anything leaks you can take it out of the car.

But does it work when the key is out of the ignition? Does the LR one?

Forget it! This is a stupid post! Of course it doesn't!

Er... actually ...
Provided the battery voltage is good enough the LR central cooler in the cubby box keeps going with the ignition off... I think limited to 15 mins... will try it later in the week and see.

Similar to what my dealer said, although he thought closer to 30min.

I'd still prefere the OEM look, but it looks like few, if any, have done a retro-fit yet.

There is a fridge for sale on ebay (USA), pretty expensive though.

When you switch everything off ( with the fridge still on ) you hear a slight hum , and sometimes you ( well I do .. ) forget its the fridge and try and figure out what it is ... Dohhh

But mine seems to turn off after about 5 min ? Maybe an indication of the drain on my battery from other stuff ??
..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

I generally just turn it off when I exit... but it does seem to shutoff in less than 15 minutes if I leave it on.

Regarding RoverActive on eBay: he's not cheap, since he's just a reseller. It's almost always cheaper to buy directly if it's available. ...No idea why he says the cooler is not available in the US - I'm pretty sure I'm in the US. 8)

Thanks for the link - gives me an idea of how big the thing is. That fan is not small - I guess a good part of the car needs to come apart to get it in.

I think I am going to have a go - next stop - the dealer...
