Screaming EPB... replacement? |
|
Hi guys,
I have a screaming EPB now after 7 years of ownership. Only done it twice in about 4 weeks but I know it needs to be replaced. I can't complain right? It had to happen eventually
Have a price from LR dealer and from local mechanic for $1800 to repair. Does that sound right and does anyone have any recommendations of who can help me with this repair in melb (inner south east)
Cheers
Moby.. What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

I feel your pain, mine squealed twice then jammed so I have painstakingly removed the unit to open it up and un-jam it.......just waiting for the courage to put it back on the car to see if it will work first time I try.
I have to say its a bit of a nightmare job to remove with its location and can't image it will be a whole lot easier to put back on again

Hey mobyone, I had my park brake module replaced at just over 70,000 Klm's because it was doing the same thing.
Sounds like this is your problem

Had the same happen to me. Screamed, then stopped for a while then h/brake refused to release. used the tried and tested manner of using brute force to release it, and it worked. Took it to my local indie who showed me an epb unit that he had recently removed from another D3.
Quite basic inside, but the costly part is the motherboard, if thats frazzled then its a complete unit £450 + labour. However, they suggested that I should not use the h/brake and just leave it in Park and see what happens.
Lo and behold two weeks of not using it, it reset itself to the point where I can now set it when I remember and it doesn't make a sound.
I think what I'm trying to say is start with the basics, adjustments etc before going the whole hog. Baby steps, baby steps......
